Ever noticed which paw your cat favors as it swipes at a toy (or you)? No, that's not a silly question. It turns out that cats share this trait with their owners: They can be righties or southpaws!
This is especially true if you give your kitty something challenging and complex to do. So if you're curious, try this quick test: Place a tasty treat or bite-sized food in a plastic glass, preferably one with an opening too small for your cat's head. Then watch your pet fish it out. Chances are the paw it uses will be the dominant one.
And if you have more than one cat--and they're different genders--you can test out another scientific discovery: Males tend to be left-pawed; females, righties, according to a 2009 study.
To get the skinny on how to perform this experiment, watch the video below, starring Maru, Japan's most famous cat. (It's VERY funny!)
