Weighing yourself more often could fast-track your slim down, according to a study from Finland published in the journal PLOS ONE. Scientists analyzed a year’s worth of weigh-ins from 40 adults who were trying to shed pounds. The finding: People who weighed themselves every day lost the most weight; those who weighed in at least once a week kept their weight steady; and those who didn’t weigh in weekly gained weight. Study author Elina Helander, Ph.D., explains that regular weigh-ins help detect weight gain early, so slimming adjustments can be made. Weigh-ins also provide motivation to avoid tempting treats.
