A mom by the name of CeeCee had been wanting to get a tattoo of a compass with her kids' initials to cover up the scars from a suicide attempt she made when she was younger. When she went to the tattoo parlor, the tattoo artist said she recognized CeeCee after a few minutes of conversation. It turned out they'd both been in the same hospital when they were suicidal teens.
After they hugged, CeeCee reflected what a beautiful thing it was for this other woman to be the one to transform the arm that was once covered in gauze and cuts. "I look at it now… My arm, a place that once represented hopelessness now represents love… More beauty from ashes than I could have ever dreamed."
The post was shared thousands of times. But even more importantly, others began posting the recovery tattoos that they'd gotten to cover up THEIR self-harm scars. Scroll through to see the art that inspires them to focus on life, healing, and love. via Love What Matters
