When a hero popped up in an unlikely place recently, it was a reminder to the rest of us to never judge a book by its cover.
It started when Nicole Sedgebeer, 21, realized she missed the last train back home after a night out in London. The next train wouldn’t leave until the next morning--and the train station's doors were closed, so she didn't even have a place to take shelter from the rain.
Unsure of what to do next, she was about to burst into tears--but luckily, a homeless man named Mark noticed her standing there, and he offered to help.
Mark escorted her to an all-night cafe, making sure she had a coffee and a place to sit before leaving as he had to go and get his sleeping bag. And although he promised to come back and walk her to the station at 5 a.m., Nicole assumed that was the last she'd see of him.
But Mark did come back, even taking a bus out of his way to get to her, and brought her to the right train in the morning.
Shocked by his kindness, she shared the encounter and a picture of her and Mark on Facebook, with a message reminding others to not judge another's character by his or her circumstances.
"When I asked him why he did it, he said it was a father’s duty to get another man’s daughter home safe," Nicole wrote in her post.
What a guy!
