When Bobbi McCaughey gave birth to the first set of surviving septuplets, in November 1997, she and husband Kenny became world famous. Reporters from TV and magazines made a beeline to their door in Iowa for interviews and photo ops with the seven babies. The family made the cover of Time magazine and was featured on the Today show and Dateline (though the couple turned down offers to star in a reality show). They received donations--everything from diapers to a house--from neighbors and strangers. The kids even were offered college scholarships to any state university in Iowa.
