Reese Witherspoon’s Nighttime Skincare Routine Is as Simple as They Come

Reese Witherspoon keeps it simple when it comes to skincare. Though you might expect the Big Little Lies star to subscribe to a lengthy nighttime regimen based on her glowing, youthful appearance, she recently let fans in on the fact that her bedtime routine involves just four simple steps, beginning with Elizabeth Arden’s ceramide replenishing oil ($36, Elizabeth Arden).

“This takes off all my makeup and it makes my skin so soft and moisturized,” the 43-year-old said in an Instagram Live video. “Love this.”

Using omega (fatty acids that serve as the building blocks of smooth, healthy skin) and vitamin E-rich apricot, safflower, and olive oils as its base — all of which work together to break down debris and sebum — this cleansing formula suits all skin types. To use, simply follow Witherspoon’s lead and massage one pump directly onto skin for 15 seconds before rinsing with water.

Also in the Draper James founder’s beauty arsenal? A Nurse Jamie RX amethyst massaging beauty roller ($95, Dermstore), which she said she employs during the day and at night to better work the cleansing oil in before rinsing (“It helps me get rid of dark circles”).

After she cleanses and rolls at night, Witherspoon currently employs Elizabeth Arden’s Progressive Renewal Treatment ($162, Elizabeth Arden), to get her skin brighter and more smooth. The four-week system uses alpha hydroxy acids (a group of plant and animal-derived chemical compounds that are primarily used to exfoliate) to accelerate the skin cell turnover that tends to slow down with age. She says it’s like having a skin peel at-home, but is still super gentle.

It’s not the first time the star, who is a creative partner for the brand, has touted her love for the line. In April, she shared with Allure that the brand’s retinol capsules (from $48, ULTA) help her look more awake and even out redness in her complexion.

Last but not least in Witherspoon’s nighttime routine? Moisturizer, of course! “Don’t forget ladies,” she cautioned. “Always with the moisturizer at night.”

Duly noted!
