Here’s our favorite decorative antidote for the cool-weather blahs: a made-in-minutes centerpiece overflowing with bright blooms. All you need to create it is a few dollars, a few sheets of tissue paper and a few minutes!
What you’ll need for each flower:
Six 6" x 10" pieces of tissue paper
One 12"-long piece of fine floral wire
Step 1: Layer and pleat
Stack six 6" x 10" rectangles of tissue. With one of the 6" sides facing you, fold accordion-style. Hint: Ending in an odd number of folds will keep both open edges facing down to give you a symmetrical flower.
Step 2: Cinch and snip
Wrap the middle of the pleated tissue with a 12"-long piece of floral wire. Twist the wire to secure, making sure it’s not too tight. (You’ll need wiggle room to prevent tears as you unfold.) Then cut each end of the paper into a scallop shape.
Step 3: Fan and fluff
Gently spread out each fold on both sides of the flower. Then carefully lift each layer of tissue paper away from the others, slowly pulling upward. Once the layers are completely opened, shape the petals to create a lush blossom.
