Usually when police officers get called about a critter on the loose, they brace themselves for the worse. After all, the animal could be dangerous--or mean and ornery.
So when Jason Spielman, a deputy with the (Georgia) Peach County Sheriff's Office got the word that there was a pig running amok in someone's back yard, he instantly thought it would be a wild hog. And those things are nasty, Deputy Spielman told the Macon Telegraph.
Instead, he found a friendly pig whom he dubbed Pork Chop. When the pig took a shine to Spielman, the police officer quickly figured out the cute critter wasn't a farm animal.
Sure enough, the pig turned out to be someone's escaped pet. So instead of waiting for the owner to come collect the porker, Spielman escorted him home.
"I never got that close to a pig before," Spielman told the Georgia newspaper. "I loved him."
