Just like fashion, a new year or a change in seasons usually sparks a desire to renew our style, clear the clutter, and start fresh. As our needs, wants, and tastes are constantly evolving, the notion that design is never done is what keeps people coming back for inspiration.

With more than 14 billion ideas, the home category continues to grow on Pinterest, with a 75 percent increase in pins year after year. People are thinking big and small, from full renovations to stylish accents. Whether you’re looking to renovate or redecorate this year, here’s what Pinterest users are forecasting for our homes in 2018.

Resort-inspired Style

Think spa-inspired bathrooms and rattan furniture to bring the vacation vibes to your home. Saves for “spa bathrooms” have increased by 269 percent.

Mixed Metallics

Metals mesh with any color palette, but to really amp up a space, mix different finishes together. Saves for “mixed metals” have increased by 423 percent.

Say “Hello” To Terrazzo

Terrazzo, the forgotten flooring of the ’70s, is brightening up ceilings, entryways, and everything in between. Saves for “terrazzo” have increased by 316 percent.

Statement Ceilings

Described as “the fifth wall,” a statement ceiling can transform a room from the top down with bold paint, striking wallpaper, or intricate texture. Saves for “statement ceilings” have increased by 310 percent.

Herringbone Patterns

Wall tiles and flooring in shades of gray, or with a herringbone pattern, are versatile, add dimension, and make any space modern and luxurious. Saves for “herringbone patterns” have increased by 131 percent.

Statement Doors

A colorfully painted front door, or friendly message on a mat, is the new way to welcome guests. Saves for “colorful doors” have increased by 121 percent.

Patterned Plants

Indoor plants, such as the popular prayer plant, go beyond green with vibrant, patterned foliage and flashes of color. Saves for “patterned plants” have increased by 533 percent.

Statement Artwork

Bye-bye, blank space! Large posters, works of art, and photography prints are very popular. Saves for “big wall art” have increased by 637 percent.
