Every now and then, we get to witness a little bit of reality TV magic. And so it was on Tuesday evening, when a 12-year-old singer from New York named Grace VanderWaal took to the stage wearing bright yellow pants and carrying a ukelele. When she opened her mouth and began to perform an original song, something utterly amazing happened.
As her parents and older sister watched from the sidelines, Grace's sweet song gradually got faster as her beautiful voice swelled. The performance shocked both the audience AND the judges--with Howie Mandel sending her straight to the live rounds and Simon Cowell predicting she's "the next Taylor Swift."
