It’s great news for Natalie Portman! The Academy Award-winning actress gave birth to daughter Amalia Millepied on February 22.
“Mother and baby are happy and healthy,” Portman’s rep recently told People magazine.
This is the second child for Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied, who have been married since 2012. The couple’s nearly five-and-a-half-year-old son Aleph will now have a special playmate.
Portman, who loves her role as a mom, claims that parenting has changed her quite a bit.
“[Parenthood] made me much calmer under stress,” she told The New York Times T Magazine for a summer 2016 piece, “because there’s that weird parent thing you develop, that when things get really bad, your voice gets calm and your blood pressure slows, and you can make everything okay again.”
We first got word of Portman’s pregnancy when she debuted her burgeoning baby bump at the Venice Film Festival in September, while promoting her films Planetarium and Jackie. The expectant mother glowed at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards, the latter where she stunned in a white, floor-length gown. Just one month later, however, Portman--who was nominated for Best Actress--was forced to skip the 89th annual Oscars ceremony due to her delivery.
Although the now mother of two couldn’t be happier, she did admit that time has flown by so fast since she first became a parent.
“I hate saying it, cause ugh, we hated it so much when people said it to us." she told The New York Times T Magazine. "They always said it, and now we say it, and it’s awful, and we’re old. But it’s also true.
Don’t worry, Natalie, you still look radiant as ever! And we are so excited about your new addition to the family.
