Like other college-bound kids, Amanda Wolfson used trash bags instead of suitcases to pack for school. But that common strategy led to an embarrassing mistake.
Lori, of North Caldwell, NJ, helped Amanda load her bagged belongings into the car off a sidewalk in New York City, where the teen had spent the summer. On the road, Lori immediately noticed a weird odor, but figured it was Amanda's yoga mats or dirty clothes. When Lori moved Amanda into her sorority house in Indiana five days later, the smell remained.

“Everybody that passed her room kept going, ‘Oh my god, it smells!’” Lori told BuzzFeed News. “And we said, ‘I know, we’ve got to wash her clothes!’”
It wasn't until they unpacked that the pair discovered the stench's source.
“She goes, ‘Oh my God, mom. I found out what smells,’” Lori said in the article. “‘This is filled with garbage!’”
They must've accidentally grabbed someone's trash before it had been collected! Everyone, including Lori and Amanda, found the situation hilarious, and people stopped by Amanda's room with air fresheners.
