Study after study proves that green tea is a healthy superstar—and when we heard the latest, we had to share! The epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) in this sip induces thermogenesis, a heat-producing process that increases calorie burn. In one Japanese study, subjects who received a 270 mg daily dose of EGCG (the amount in three cups of tea) burned an extra 250 calories a day—enough to shed 25 pounds a year.
Here’s the slimming recipe:
1⁄3 cup chopped honeydew
1 green tea bag
3 sprigs fresh mint
In saucepan, bring 1 cup water and honeydew to a boil. Remove from heat. Add tea bag and mint. Let steep 3 min.; remove bag. Add 1 cup cold water. Sweeten to taste. Chill or serve over ice.
