If your child or grandchild eats at McDonald's in the next couple of weeks, they won't find the typical prize of a toy inside their Happy Meal.
From Feb. 2 to Feb. 15, the prize will be a book instead, according to a McDonald's media rep. The burger chain is including four paperback options for the kiddos, three of the four being Valentine's Day-themed. They include Clark the Shark Takes Heart by Bruce Hale, Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond, Pete the Cat: Valentine’s Day Is Cool by Kimberly and James Dean, and the much-loved classic book Paddington by Michael Bond.
This is the third year McDonald's has partnered with literacy nonprofit Reading is Fundamental. But by the end of this particular giveaway, McDonald’s and Reading Is Fundamental will have distributed more than 50 million books to children since 2013.
