Maria Menounos Is Considering Surrogacy Weeks After Her Wedding

Tags:

Just before midnight on New Year’s Eve, Maria Menounos gave Times Square revelers something else to celebrate by tying the knot on live TV with her boyfriend of 20 years, Keven Undergaro. The wedding was part of Fox’s New Year’s Eve With Steve Harvey, which Maria was co-hosting — Steve officiated the event. “This was just so perfect,” said Maria, who was wearing a lace Pronovias gown. “[New York City] is going to be such a special place for us,” she added, according to Life & Style

And now, just a few weeks after their special day, the couple is already talking about babies! However, after suffering a scary brain tumor and undergoing surgery to remove it, the former E! News anchor is considering surrogacy. “I need to work with doctors to see if getting pregnant is the smartest thing,” Maria told People. “I do have some kids in the freezer, maybe we’ll implant. But if not, we’ll look into surrogacy.”

Her husband, Keven, wants whatever is best for his wife. “We definitely want children,” he said. “But I’m very concerned about her going through a pregnancy, and I would like to explore [using a] surrogate because her body has been through h—. I want a baby desperately, but I don’t want it to be at the risk of her health.”

Maria previously called her brain tumor the “best thing to ever happen to her.” “Would you believe me if I told you that the brain tumor is the best thing that ever happened to me? It’s freed me from all of that anxiety of having to be perfect. You can’t control everything; leave it to God and just say, ‘Okay, this is my journey,'” the 39-year-old told Women’s Health in December 2017. “This whole thing has been such a gift. This happened for a reason.”

And when it comes to having children, Maria is being super optimistic as well. “I really believe that God has a plan,” she said. “If I’m supposed to have a baby, it’s going to happen. If not, maybe God is protecting me from this tumor growing.” We hope everything works out for you, Maria!
