Kids and adults alike will love these brownies, which get extra sweetness and sophistication from summer-fresh cherries.
1 (18.2 oz.) pkg. *brownie mix *
1/2 cup, plus 5 Tbs. butter, at room temp. and divided
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, at room temp.
6 oz. white-chocolate baking squares, like Baker’s, melted
Liquid red food coloring (optional)
3/4 cup chopped fresh pitted sweet cherries (about 1/2 lb.)
1 cup dark chocolate chips
Heat oven to 350°F. Prepare brownie mix as package directs; pour batter into greased foil-lined 9" x 13" baking pan. Bake 22 min. or until done. Let cool.
Meanwhile, with mixer on high speed, beat 1/2 cup butter 30 sec. Add cream cheese; beat until smooth. Reduce speed to medium; beat in white chocolate. Tint to desired color. Fold in cherries; spread over brownies.
In microwave-safe bowl, microwave chocolate chips and remaining butter 30 sec. or until melted, stirring; spread over cherry layer. Chill 1 hr. or until brownies are firm; cut in squares.
