“I have a wicked sweet tooth. I get cranky if I’m deprived. Every once in a while, I’ll tell the kids I’m going on a food plan and they look terrified,” jokes Kathy. Her secret to calming cravings? “I light aromatic candles around the house, and somehow smelling wonderful scents takes away the need for me to have something sweet. I think our sense of smell helps us remember things. When I smell cookies, I see being a little girl in the kitchen with my mom—and having that mom time was happy time.”
