Kate Middleton Was in a Carriage When She Spotted a Countess So Distressed, She Leapt to Help

Kate Middleton is a lot of things—fashionable Duchess of Cambridge, charitable philanthropist, dedicated mental health advocate, and devoted wife to Prince William and mom to Prince George and Princess Charlotte. And now she has one more addition to her already impressive resume—the hero of Sophie, Countess of Wessex!

While riding in a carriage ahead of the first day of the Royal Ascot 2017, Kate Middleton saved the countess, who is married to Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest son, Prince Edward, from what could’ve been a terrible tumble. The ladies were both set to ride in together when things took a dicey turn.

Right in the middle of the Royal Ascot procession, as the carriage started moving, so did the countess. Specifically, she moved forward, right toward the duchess, who was seated across from her. But thanks to Kate Middleton’s impressively quick thinking skills, she was able to halt what could’ve been a total disaster right in its tracks.
