This Couple May Seem Mismatched, But Their Beach Photo Is Inspiring Thousands

Love your body no matter what shape and size it is, right? We all know that’s easier said than done. For Jasmine Owens, it’s taken her years to accept her figure, but she says that she’s finally now seeing what her husband—her ultra-fit husband with his perfectly chiseled abs and hunky biceps, that is—has seen all along.

That’s right: He has a perfectly in-shape body, she’s perfectly curvy—and they’re a perfect match.

“Over the years, this man has loved every curve, every roll and every stretch mark on my body,” the body positive advocate, who goes by the nickname Jazzy, posted on her inspiration-filled Instagram page. “I never understood why.”

While her husband could easily see past her perceived flaws, Owens says that learning to love what she saw in the mirror was a much more gradual process. (Let’s face it: Most of us women can relate.)

“Trying to change my mindset on what the ‘perfect body’ looks like has been a big factor in my journey,” the 25-year-old told [People](http://people.com/bodies/jazzy-owens-body-positive-instagram/?utmcampaign=peoplemag&utmsource=facebook.com&utmmedium=social&xid=socialflowfacebookpeoplemag)_. “I am still not fully there.

But her caring, loving husband has been there all along, she says—and at first, it confused her.

“How could he love something that isn’t ‘perfect’?” she continued. “How could a man who was ‘born fit’ love someone like me? I don’t have a flat stomach, I jiggle when I walk. Hell, if I run up the stairs too fast my body claps!” she joked.

Owens is happy that the post—like many of the body-positive inspirational photos and quotes she shares—has resonated with so many people.

“I simply wanted to share a photo of me enjoying life freely without hiding my body,” Owens told Cosmopolitan.com of the sweet beachy snap that’s now received more than 80,000 Likes and thousands of comments from total strangers. “This was the first time I had ever wore a two piece to the beach, let alone in front of my husband, and I felt the need to share the confidence I had in myself.”

The best news of all?

“I love my body and I finally see why he does too!” she wrote.

Well, if that’s not a message worth cheering, we don’t know what is. We’re so glad she learned the lesson early—and hope it lasts her for the rest of her days, whether or not they involve the beach.
