Mom-to-be Kari Holloway wanted to celebrate her pregnancy like many other moms do--through a beautiful maternity shoot. But in the midst of the celebration, she wanted to also pay tribute to her time of mourning as well.
That's because her husband, Tod, passed away tragically and unexpectedly earlier this year. It was only seven months after they first got married.

So when she decided to document her pregnancy with Kelly Ross Photography, she wanted to add Tod to the photo. And she ended up literally just doing that.
Since she had a copy of Tod's handprint, she had an artist make a stencil of it and transferred the image onto her pregnant belly. The results are breathtaking--and heart wrenchingly beautiful.

The photographer also arranged for her to be holding a teddy bear made from her late husband's shirt, so it could bring her and her unborn daughter comfort in their time of healing. She also added a Photoshopped image of her husband to that same snapshot.
What an amazing way to preserve his memory! Gone, but truly never forgotten.
