When Easter Sunday finds you halfway through your chocolate bunny, you officially have an excuse to keep going. It’s actually healthier to down all of your holiday desserts in one glorious go than spacing it out, some experts say.
Well, healthier for your teeth at least. We’re not sure it will do wonders for your waistline, but one day of eating chocolate won’t make you fat just like one day of eating salad won’t make you slim.
Oral hygiene experts TePe are giving you the green light to enjoy a day of indulgence, though. It all comes down to the acids in your mouth. Sugar creates an acidic environment that’s harmful to your pearly whites, and it takes anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours for your body to balance the levels back to normal.
If you munch throughout the day or spread the sweets out over the course of the next month, you’re creating more opportunities for the acid to attack your shining smile. We’re not saying you should overdo it in the name of a healthy mouth, but if you eat a little more than you were intending, go ahead and shrug it off. Your smile will thank you for it.
