It’s fast, easy and inexpensive to add instant charm to a plain dollar-store journal by attaching a pretty secondhand doily to the cover. It’s a perfect “Oops! I almost forgot your birthday” gift to keep on hand.
What you’ll need:
1 small paintbrush
Optional: Narrow 3/8"-wide satin ribbon
To do: Use the small paint brush to apply a coat of white glue to the back of the doily, then press it onto the front cover of the journal. Let dry overnight. If the doily is too big for the book, cut out a medallion (following the pattern of the lace) using sharp scissors, and seal the edges (to prevent fraying) by painting on white glue. Let dry for 2 hours, then glue it to the cover of the journal. Optional: Tie a length of the narrow ribbon around the book for a luxurious way to keep it secure or wrapped-and-ready to gift.
