If you're dreaming of a curly 'do to ring in the New Year, but don't feel like splurging on a curling iron or a trip to the salon, you can still rock the look--as long as you have bubble wrap. Yes, bubble wrap.
This genius trick comes from Brazilian YouTube blogger Paula Stephânia, who walks you through the step-by-step to get a head full of cascading curls. The lesson is in Portuguese, but since she shows as well as tells, it's pretty easy to follow.
You'll need bubble wrap, rubber bands, styling cream, and just-washed hair. You can do this right before bed, and let the curls set at night, or during the day, and dry your hair with a blow-dryer.
Cut the bubble wrap into 15- by 10-inch strips. Roll them up. If you want tighter curls, make the tubes smaller in diameter. She's made about 16 bubble-wrap roll-ups; if your hair is shorter, you may not need as many.
Prep damp hair with leave-in conditioner and styling cream.
Starting with the layers underneath first, wrap a section of hair around the bubble wrap and roll it up to your roots.
Gather the two ends of the bubble-wrap and secure them with a rubber band. Keep doing this until you've rolled up all your hair. As you roll, you can add a bit more styling cream as needed.
The next morning, pull out the rolls. You can loosen the curls up by running your fingers through them.
Done! You're gorgeous. Now go out and wow 'em!
