That’s because heat activates nerves in the skin that fire off feel-good messages to the brain, revving the production of mood-boosting neurotransmitters. Other warming strategies that can deliver the same mood boost: cuddling up under a fluffy blanket, holding your hands under warm running water for a few minutes or slipping them into cozy mittens.
