Hoda Kotb Explains Her Relatable, But “Weird” Mom Guilt

Tags:

Hoda Kotb is opening up about her mom guilt since welcoming her 3-month-old daughter Haley Joy through adoption back in February. And her blunt confession about how time spent away from her daughter has affected her has moms everywhere nodding with her in solidarity.

Sure, most moms don’t spend their time away from their children at the 2017 CMT Music Awards in Nashville, like the TODAY host just did. But that doesn’t mean that Kotb had an easy time being away from her little one for the second time around.

“We went away for one night when we were in Bermuda for a shoot there, so this is my second time away,” Kotb said. “It is a little weird, I have to say.”

Though her co-host Kathie Lee Gifford reminded her that she did get a good night’s sleep while she was traveling, Kotb admitted the truth about what it meant for her to finally be able to sleep well.

“You finally sleep, and it’s weird,” Kotb said. “I feel a little guilty saying that.”

Whew! How many moms out there can relate? But just because the mom guilt kicks in sometimes for Kotb, Gifford was quick to point out that she was doing wonderfully—which every great mom out there deserves to hear, host of a hit TV show or not.
