Reverses brain aging

One cup of green tea daily (along with a few carrots) appears to clear the brain of damaging plaques, according to University of Southern California research. When mice with Alzheimer’s-like symptoms were fed green tea’s active compound (EGCG) and ferulic acid (from carrots), their brain disease symptoms were reversed by 43% and their working memory was restored.

Fosters sunny moods

Green tea contains a unique amino acid (L-theanine) that speeds the brain’s production of mood-boosting alpha waves. Researchers say drinking three to four mugs of this brew a day helps women feel 55% happier and more content—often within 30 minutes of the first sip.

Kick-starts fat burning

Sipping three mugs of green tea daily can double weight loss on any diet plan and chase away fatigue in just five days, report researchers in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. That’s because polyphenols in the brew fire up fat-burning enzymes in cells. Hint: A squeeze of lemon boosts absorption by 80%.
