Hurricane Matthew devastated areas of the East Coast, leaving thousands without power or working phone lines. Claire Olsen, 87, who lives in Palm Coast, Florida, was one of those affected.
Olsen's grandson, Eric Olsen, who lives in Omaha, Nebraska, had started to worry after his grandmother failed to call and confirm that she made it.

So he got on the phone and called someone else: Papa John’s. He ordered a pizza at the only Papa John's in his grandmother's county, and asked Lance Tyler, the delivery driver, to make sure his grandmother was OK.
When Tyler got to the house and knocked, Olsen was surprised: She hadn’t ordered a pizza.

“Your grandson did,” Tyler told her.
Then, following the concerned grandson's strict instructions, Tyler called him and confirmed that his beloved grandma was fine.
“The way that he answered the phone, ‘Is she there? Is she OK?’ It sounded like he was worried,” Tyler told WFTV.
Tyler then handed Olsen the phone.

“[My grandson said,] ‘Grandma, I haven’t talked to you in two days. I got worried about you. You must be hungry by now.”
Olsen assured Eric that she was safe. She also mentioned that the pizza, which happened to be pepperoni, was “fantastic.”
Tyler said it was better than any other tip he’s received.
"Her expression was just priceless. It was like, 'Wow!'" said Tyler.
Olsen appreciated the pizza, but she told WFTV that nothing could compare to knowing how much her grandson cared.
