If you have a child who is stubborn, you're in luck. At least in the long term, says science.
A new study shows that kids who defy their parents and break rules tend to go on to become academic overachievers in school and high-earners in the workplace. The researchers didn't explain why there is a correlation of strong-willed kids finding major success, but they suggested that those kids may become more competitive in a classroom setting, leading to better grades. And later on, they may also be more likely to demand more in salary negotiations.
So, if you're a parent that gives the right motivation and encouragement to put your stubborn kid's gut instincts and drive to good use, you could have a potential future leader on your hands! And that is definitely worth celebrating.
