Giada De Laurentiis Gets Some “Tough” Love From Nicole Kidman About Her Food

Tags:

We love Nicole Kidman, Giada De Laurentiis and Ellen DeGeneres, so we were so excited to see them all get together on camera for a cooking segment on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Unfortunately for these three incredibly talented and lovely ladies, the show did not go according to plan.

When Giada attempted to teach Nicole and Ellen how to make artichoke arancini and focaccia with clementines and fennel, the three women shared a few good-natured laughs about putting the dish together. But by the time they went to sample the finished product—which had been pre-prepared hours before showtime—things quickly got awkward.

Ellen clearly struggled with the first bite of the bread, working hard to tear off a piece.

“That sure is good,” she said, laughing as she dramatically chewed the hardened focaccia.

When Nicole tried it, she couldn’t hold back her true feelings.

“It’s a little tough,” she said.

“Nicole, it has been sitting there for like five hours!” Giada said in response. “I hate doing these things for that reason!”

Then Nicole heaped on the “tough love” to Giada again after that.

“I know you’re not meant to criticize but it’s a little tough,” she said, causing them all to burst into laughter.

Nicole then spit out the bread and said, “Do not let my kids see that I did that.”

Yikes! We hope that if these beloved celebs come together to cook together again, that they have a more successful outcome.

Meanwhile, you can watch the laugh-out-loud funny footage for yourself in the video below. The whole clip is hilarious, but around the 4:51 mark is where the awkwardness really heats up!
