For most of us, aging just tends to happen. It's not until there's an abrupt change to our lifestyle as a result of getting older that makes us wonder "Gee, when did I get so old?!" Hilariously, one Reddit user just posed that question to readers — and the responses are all kinds of wonderful.
A lot of the answers revolved around someone suffering an injury. In some cases, a person felt a lot older because their injuries took a lot longer to heal than they once did. For others, accidents sent them to see doctors who, to their embarrassment, were younger than them or even their siblings. There were even those who injured themselves doing something that they could have done with ease in the past, like lifting heavy weights or even going to the bathroom.
"I broke my toe and it healed in the wrong place, which causes me pain when I walk. After several doctors visits have made it clear I can't fix it, I've now realized that this is just the first of those minor things that will go wrong with my body that I'll have with me the rest of my life," wrote Reddit user John_Wilkes.
Of course, there were a couple of comical responses like one from popop222, who wrote, "When I started looking to see if the women I was checking out had a wedding ring on." (Watch the video below for some more downright hilarious replies!)
A large number of responses were about individuals who didn't realize they weren't young anymore until their companies started hiring people who were the same age as their children.
"I arrived at work one morning, [and] one of the other managers closed the office door and said, 'I don't want 'the kids' to hear this.' I thought to myself, 'Our coworkers aren't that much younger than we are', and then realized yes, they are," said 9bikes.
What about you? When was the moment you realized you weren't as young as you remembered?
