The days of simply peeing on a stick and waiting three minutes for a "pregnant" or "not pregnant" result may be a thing of the past.
An American firm has released a Bluetooth Smart-enabled pregnancy test that could change the whole experience of finding out the answer to a very important question. First Response Pregnancy PRO from Church & Dwight has a pee stick that syncs up with a smartphone app, which offers the user pregnancy-related content and a personalized user experience.
The user enters profile information into the app to access a three-minute countdown, along with options to kill time while she waits for the result. "Calm me," "educate me," and "entertain me" are some available choices. After the wait's over, the user enters a secure code to find out the result. If it's negative, the app offers resources like cycle tracking. If it's positive, it offers an estimated due date, ways to track pregnancy milestones, and suggested questions to ask the doctor.
It's priced at about $14.99, around double the cost of a standard test. It remains to be seen how new moms-to-be will respond to it, but one thing's for sure—they'll definitely be experiencing an innovation!
