There are a couple beauty routines that make us all look a little more foolish before we start looking better, and painting our nails ranks right up there with using gel deodorant and curling our eyelashes. There’s just no attractive way to flap your hands around as you wait for the paint to dry.
But heaven forbid you don’t flap long enough or, sure enough, there will be multiple chips on your freshly painted nails in seconds. Instead of sitting immobile or waving your hands like you’re trying to take off, let your nails air dry for one solid minute before dipping them in a bowl of cool water with ice cubes. (It doesn't have to be cold; no need to freeze your fingers!)
After two to three minutes, take your fingers out and check to see if there are water droplets on your nails. If water has beaded on the polish, your nail polish is firm and set. You can now go about your day without any flapping or fanning.
