On Feb. 17, Daphne Oz posted a photo on Instagram of her two kids, Philo, 2, and Jovan, 1, with a heartbreaking caption. The 31-year-old revealed that her father-in-law, Sretko Dimitric, had passed.

“Thank you all for your generous prayers and kindness. I wanted to let you know that, after a long battle with cancer (and many days and weeks and months that were unequivocal wins), my father-in-law passed away this afternoon. We are heartbroken, but grateful that we could spend the past few days together as a family, and that he is at peace. The kids coming to visit him in the hospital always put a huge smile on his face, which is how we’ll remember him. ❤❤❤”

Just one day later, Dr. Oz, reposted Daphne’s photo but included his own words in memory of his daughter’s father-in-law.

“Love and family are two of the most important things in life, especially when you are going through sorrowful times. Sretko was a tremendous man and will be greatly missed.”
