Dunkin’ Donuts Makes Plans to Ditch Artificial Coloring

Tags:

If donuts are your treat of choice, Dunkin’ Donuts’ latest announcement should be welcome news.

Dunkin’ Brands, the parent company of Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins, has decided they will dump artificial colors from their list of ingredients.

According to Time, this change will affect every item on the menu, from donuts to frozen drinks at Dunkin’ to ice creams and toppings at Baskin Robbins.

Nigel Travis, Dunkin’ Brands’ CEO and chairman, says artificial colors will be removed from all brands’ menus by the end of 2018.

This isn’t the first company to pledge to remove artificial coloring from their products. Last year, Mars, Incorporated, popular for their M&Ms, Skittles, and Uncle Ben’s items among others, made a similar announcement.

Though artificial food colors must be approved as safe by the FDA before they can be used in products marketed to consumers, there’s always a chance that people can suffer allergic reactions from the coloring.

Regardless of what you believe, we’ll take this as justification to indulge in a delicious breakfast treat without any guilt!
