This 2-Ingredient DIY Face Mist is an Anti-Aging Beauty Secret

Tags:

Summer is upon us, and maybe this means going a little lighter on the makeup. Who likes to feel all that product caked onto your face in the blazing hot sun? The warmer months are the perfect time to take advantage of your natural, sun-kissed glow, and what better way to do so than adding a DIY hydrating facial mist to your routine?

Facial mists are all the rage nowadays. They help to add moisture to the skin, while enhancing your complexion and skin texture. And since you’ll (of course) be protecting your skin with sunscreen all summer, it’s the perfect addition to boost your look and add radiance without the heavy feeling of foundation. The best part? You can make your own right at home — and for cheap!

If you haven’t heard of all the benefits of aloe for your skin and hair, it’s a must when it comes to your beauty routine. Aloe is full of antioxidants and other skin boosting nutrients like Vitamin E and beta-carotene. It has also shown to increase collagen production when applied topically — that means less fine lines and wrinkles

Rosewater is also a must-have staple in any anti-aging beauty routine. Rosewater is a hydrosol made of rose petals and just like aloe, it’s loaded with antioxidants that help with cell renewal and collagen production when applied to the skin. Rosewater is also a potent anti-inflammatory, which can help reduce any redness or inflammation from conditions like rosacea. It’s also a great astringent, helping to minimize pores, all while keeping the skin pH balanced so you’re not producing too much excess oil. This is summer skin care done right!

To combine these two powerful beauty ingredients into a facial mist is simple. All you have to do is add about 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup aloe vera juice in a small spray bottle, shake, and then fill the remainder of the bottle with rosewater. If you want, you can even add some skin boosting essential oils like lavender, chamomile, or calendula to your blend. Start off with three drops and add as desired.

To be safe, always test your product on a patch of skin first to ensure there are no reactions. For best results, choose high quality products like this rosewater from Sweet Essentials ($9.99, Amazon) and this aloe vera juice from George’s Always Active ($5.82, Amazon). Then spritz away!
