Using a paint pen to quickly color on a graphic Harlequin trim gives a plain tray a dash of bright, modern style—perfect for bringing cheer to any outdoor meal!
What you’ll need:
Four 1" squares cut from cardstock (for diamond templates)
1 sheet of plastic acetate
Razor knife or single-edged blade
Eight 1/8" x 1" rectangles cut from cardstock (for borderline templates)
To create a multiple diamond stencil: Line up the four cardstock squares (turned on a diagonal to form a row of diamond shapes) on the plastic sheet. Trace around the squares using the marker and cut out with the razor. To add the border line to the stencil: Place the eight cardstock rectangles on the plastic sheet above and below each diamond, trace around the edges, then cut out with the razor. To paint: Tape the stencil onto the edge of the tray. Color in the diamond and border-line openings with a paint pen. Remove stencil. Let dry. Repeat until the diamond pattern fills both sides of the tray.
