In June of this year, 7-year-old Hayley Brown was diagnosed with cancer. Doctors discovered a tumor in her nose and a week later they started chemotherapy.
Now, about halfway through her eight months of chemo, Hayley still remains "upbeat." Despite losing her long brown locks, Hayley still had one thing that made her smile: her eyelashes.

"People, including her older sister, always said how jealous they were of her beautiful big eyelashes,” Andrew Brown, Hayley's father said.
A tutor at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne where Hayley receives treatment would even greet her with, "How’s Hayley and her beautiful lashes today?"

But then Hayley started to lose her beloved eyelashes, too. On October 30, her father took a heartwrenching photo of Hayley's last eyelash.
Fortunately, Hayley doesn't seem bothered. "She doesn’t really realise they’re gone, people stopped talking about them. She probably doesn’t even know her eyebrows are practically gone,” Andrew said.

After hanging in there for three weeks, the single eyelash eventually fell off.
Hayley still has more chemotherapy before doctors will determine another treatment plan, but scans show her tumor is shrinking.
