In the line of duty, police officers have to perform so many different roles--hunting down criminals, helping citizens in need, giving out tickets and warnings, keeping the peace, performing good deeds, trouble-shooting. The list could go and on but you get the picture.

So when a police officer takes time from his busy day to MAKE someone's day (and not in the Clint Eastwood sense, either), then it's cause for celebration. The sweet story goes like this: Officer Ickes, of the Grand Rapids, MI, police force, was responding to a routine call when he noticed a little someone lurking nearby in HIS police car. Five-year-old Travis, who loves pretending he's a cop, was watching one of his idols, and Officer Ickes stopped to chat. After Travis had showed him all the gizmos in his toy car, the officer said goodbye.
But then Officer Ickes surprised Travis and his mom by swinging his police car around so he could give the little boy a treat. He let Travis sit in the front seat, push the buttons, and gave him a sticker. Then he gave some of the other neighborhood kids stickers before going off to chase down a speeder!
That's what we call awesome!
