When Deputy Matthew Brakeman caught a woman going 45 in a 35, he had no problem pulling her over. But then, he found out where she was going.
RaeAnn Kuykendall had her cancer-stricken mother in the car, and they were on their way to an appointment with her doctor. And they had to rush to get there so the doc could fit her in the schedule.

When Brakeman found this out, he went back to his car to collect his thoughts. After all, he had been prepared to give Kuykendall a speeding ticket just minutes ago. But after some reflection, he realized that this duo needed something more powerful than that.
So he walked over to the mom's side of the car, got on her level, and said a prayer for her instead.

"There’s the letter of the law and the spirit of the law, and these particular folks, I don’t think they were violating the spirit of the law, they were violating the letter," Brakeman said. "I think they needed some love. We all do."
