At first, Stacey Wehrman Feeley thought it was just a super cute photo op. There was her 3-year-old standing on the toilet, striking a funny-but-adorable pose that the Michigan mom could send to her husband. So she took the photo and then asked her little girl what she was doing. Of course she expected nothing but a mischievous yet innocent reply.

But what her daughter told her made the mom break down instead. "She was practicing for a lockdown drill at her preschool and what you should do if you are stuck in a bathroom. At that moment all innocence of what I thought my three-year-old possessed was gone," Feeley wrote in a Facebook post last week.
It makes sense that the preschool teachers were showing their students how to stand on toilet seats. Some of the people trapped in the Orlando nightclub shooting managed to sidestep death that way. And one of the Sandy Hook first-grade teachers had piled all 16 of her kids into the bathroom--which probably saved their lives.

"Politicians--take a look," Feeley continued. "This is your child, your children, your grandchildren, your great-grand children and future generations to come. They will live their lives and grow up in this world based on your decisions. They are barely 3 and they will hide in bathroom stalls standing on top of toilet seats. I do not know what will be harder for them: Trying to remain quiet for an extended amount of time or trying to keep their balance without letting a foot slip below the stall door?"
