Moms Who Hate Clutter Will Appreciate Woman’s Clever Coffee-Pod Storage Hack

Tags:

Kitchen storage is a common problem, especially when it comes to keeping small spaces — like counters, cabinets, and pantries — organized efficiently. Fed up with the clutter on her family’s kitchen counter, mom-of-three Gina Baynham from Newcastle, Australia, decided to take matters into her own hands by creating a clever DIY coffee-pod organizer. And after checking it out, we have to agree that she’s onto something big.

“I’ve tried lots of different ways of storing Nespresso pods — jars, boxes, you name it,” Baynham told the Australian lifestyle website Kidspot. “Every time my husband comes home from the shop, he has bought new flavors to try, and it drives me mad because I have to re-organize my storage all over again.”

That’s when she came across a clever hack from Bunnings Warehouse — which is kind of like the UK version of Home Depot — online. All she needed was a little PVC pipe and something to cut it with, and she’d be able to create her very own under-the-cabinet coffee-pod organizer.

“When I saw this idea on the [private] Facebook group Moms Who Organize, I was so excited,” Baynham said.

The best news? The entire project only cost her $2, and it took just a few minutes from start to finish.

“It was so easy. It cost me $1.80 for the piece of PVC plastic at 2.4 meters [7.8 feet] in length,” Baynham said. “I then cut it to 30-centimeter [11-inch] lengths with a sharp knife and stuck them to the underside of my kitchen cupboards with double-sided sticky foam that I bought in a craft shop for about $2.”

Once she was done sizing her PVC pipe and securing the pieces where she wanted them, Baynham was thrilled with the results. Each strip held roughly eight coffee pods underneath her kitchen cabinets, leaving the kitchen counter spotless.

“The kitchen looks so uncluttered; it has cleared up my bench surfaces,” she said. “Next time my husband comes home from the Nespresso shop with new varieties, all I will need to do is stick a few more lengths of PVC and I will have unlimited capsule storage. The only skill involved was getting the gap wide enough to slide the capsule in without it being so loose that it would fall out.”

The mom-of-three shared her “After” photos in the Facebook group where she originally saw the tip, and moms there are going crazy over the idea. Since her initial posting, Baynham has received more than 100 comments from other members of the group have copied her hack already or plan to soon. There’s no doubt about it: It’s a game-changer for coffee-lovers!
