Stop Pressing Air Out of Ziploc Bags and Do THIS Brilliant Thing Instead to Keep Food Fresh

File this under “Why did we not think of this earlier?” There’s a better, more efficient way to seal your Ziploc bags so they take up less space and keep your food fresher. Packing lunches will also be easier than ever!

Whatever your preferred method–pressing, rolling, etc–we’re sorry to say it doesn’t hold a candle to this woman’s trick that she inherited from her mother. Don’t worry, we’ve been doing it wrong this whole time, too.

To quickly and easily seal your sandwich or leftovers away, all you need to do is close all of the zip except for one hole about one inch long. Then simply suck the air out of the bag, and snap that tiny section closed. Voila! No pesky air bubbles taking up precious space in the fridge or your bag. We couldn’t believe we hadn’t thought of it, either. Watch the short video below to see exactly how it’s done.

NOTE: Do not try this trick with anything powder-based.
