Carrie Underwood Celebrates 12th Anniversary of Her ‘American Idol’ Win With Throwback Photo

Tags:

Boy, how time flies! Can you believe it’s been 12 years since Carrie Underwood rocked American Idol and sang her way into our hearts? Today, she’s a bonafide country star with an adorable family of her own, but her down-to-earth personality still shines through.

“12 years later and I’m still not sure how it all happened to me! 12 years ago today, my dreams came true and life has been a dream ever since! I am beyond blessed and so thankful!” she captioned a nostalgia-inducing photo of her early days. She may be a seven-time Grammy winner, but it’s refreshing to see that Underwood is just a humble girl from Oklahoma.

Earlier this month, she shared another, albeit more recent, photo of herself and former Idol judge Paula Abdul.

The winner of the fourth Idol season, Carrie Underwood beat out Bo Bice for the number one spot. Since her win in 2005, she’s released hit song after hit song and amassed a treasure chest of awards. The country singer hit a huge milestone in March when she performed for the 100th time at the Grand Ole Opry.

And she’s not the only successful family member. Carrie Underwood’s husband Mike Fisher, a hockey player for the Nashville Predators, gave his family a new reason to celebrate when he and his teammates earned a trip to the Stanley Cup finals—the team’s first trip in franchise history. Of course, Carrie Underwood’s son, Isaiah, brings the couple a reason to cheer every day.

Even though Underwood announced in February that she was taking a break from singing, she’s been a busy woman. She surprised her husband’s fans by singing the national anthem at a game, and in late-February, she shared a brutally honest photo about the reality of motherhood after celebrating Isaiah’s second birthday.

As we look back at all that Underwood has accomplished in the 12 years since her big Idol win, we can only imagine what the next 12 hold. Congrats, Carrie! You deserve it.
