A quick glance at this gorgeous wine rack might only inspire you to think, “Wow, that’s some under-utilized space” since only three of the possible 12 bottles are stocked. But there’s something else that’s special about this storage unit, and once you spot it, you won’t notice anything else.
Found it? Good! Designer Tony Potter crafted this organizer to trick your eyes with a special optical illusion that, yes, might just make you wonder if you’re drunk. His creation is designed to make your wine bottles appear to vanish into thin air when you peer into the middle section. (We know, we know, we don’t like the idea of our reds being abracadabra-ed away any more than you do, but it does make for a spotlight-stealing centerpiece.)
Dying to know the trick? We figured this one out--finally--and we’ll give you a clue: Only six of the 12 bottles can be hidden. Watch the clip below of the rotating rack to see if you can spot the secret to the illusion, and then send it to your friends to see if they can do the same. Keep reading to find out what it is.
Did you spot it? There's a mirror that runs diagonally from the far bottom corner of the organizer to the front top corner (if you're looking at it from the side). This reflects the bottom slots back to you in place of the wine-filled slots that are truly at the back.
