You snooze, you win! At least that's what people are saying after listening to a "sleep-inducing masterpiece" launched by the meditation app Calm.
The masterpiece in question is a 24-minute audio story that challenges anyone who listens to it to stay awake longer than those 24 minutes. And according to users, it actually works.
Called "Blue Gold," the audio story is narrated by actor Stephen Fry, who you might recognize as the same voice that narrated all seven of the Harry Potter audiobooks. As you might expect, the story Fry tells for Calm is much less action-packed than the story about The Boy Who Lived. "Blue Gold" tells a simple narrative about slowly wandering around the South of France while enjoying the lovely smell of lavender fields. Sounds pretty relaxing, huh?
One Twitter user wrote to Stephen Fry, "I listen to audio books you have read. I love your voice, it is so calming. I always fall asleep. Thanks for helping me sleep."
Another user tweeted, "I have yet to figure out what any of these sleep stories are about because I always fall asleep! Mission accomplished, I suppose."
"I've never tried a meditation app before. This was pure bliss. Thank you so much for 20 minutes of calm Mr. Fry. It had been a hectic day," yet another raved.
But if simply imagining the scent of lavender isn't relaxing enough for you, the company also suggests the you pair your audio story with their new sleep mist — a positively lovely-sounding mix of lavender, chamomile, clary sage, and frankincense.
