Weighing in at 9 pounds, Lauren Brain thought her first child, a son named Reggie-Lee, was a big baby. Boy was she in for a surprise when her daughter was born!
Brain just gave birth to a girl, Leelah, who weighed a whopping 11 pounds 11 ounces. In fact, Leelah was the biggest baby delivered at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, England.

“Oh my God,” Brain said when she learned of the new record. “I thought she was quite small and chunky—but never the weight they said,” she told ExpressandStar.com
A water birth was planned, but Brain’s contractions sped up and she gave birth soon after.
After her birth, doctors had to place Leelah in the neo-natal unit because she was having trouble breathing. Partially due to her size, fluid had built up in her lungs, so Leelah remained at the hospital for another week.
Brain was optimistic about the situation. “It was all quite straightforward compared to my first birth,” she said. “They do say the bigger they are the easier it is.”
It looks like Reggie-Lee has already grown quite fond of his new baby sister, so hopefully he isn’t too mad about his sister beating him out for the record.
