Everyone knows that being a wedding guest can cost a pretty penny. After all, you're likely shelling out some hard-earned cash for a new dress, transportation, and of course, the wedding gift.
That's what one woman did when she attended a wedding of a former colleague. And boy, was she in for a rude surprise after the nuptials!
On an anonymous online forum for mothers, user P&P wrote that she gave her former colleague a check for £100 (about $145) as a wedding gift. And in response, the bride and groom sent her a shocking email.
It read, "We were surprised that your contribution didn’t seem to match the warmth of your good wishes on our big day. In view of your own position, if you wanted to send any adjustment it would be thankfully received."
P&P wrote that she was "utterly gobsmacked" by the reply. She admitted that the "your own position" portion was referencing an inheritance she had recently received, and that the bride had always been a bit "gabby" about what she wants. But she was at a loss for what to do.
Several commentators suggested that she cancel the check. Others urged her to send a snarky response back to the couple. But instead, P&P decided on an another option.
She wrote back to them, "I assume this was some sort of mistake?"
What more can you say, really?
