Video of Baby Walking Minutes After Being Born Goes Viral

Tags:

Gone are the days where being born was an accomplishment in and of itself. No, today babies are born ready, willing, and able to literally walk moments after being born. See for yourself!

Recently, a viral video is making its rounds on Facebook, and it seems to show a baby “walking” right after being born. Color us impressed! This video, which appears to have originated in Brazil, was posted by a woman named Arlete Arantes, and it has been watched an astounding 93 million times. Yes, million.

As reported by The Sun, a woman in scrubs shouts “Oh my gosh, the girl is walking. Good gracious!” in Portuguese. “Merciful father. I was trying to wash her here and she keeps getting up to walk,” says the midwife, pointing to where she placed the baby down to wash her.

“Wow, she is so cute it’s amazing. If she’s like this now, I can just imagine how precocious she is going to be as she grows up,” someone else in the video says.

While the Internet seems to have a lot of opinions about whether or not the baby is actually walking, we’re not totally convinced. If you ask us, she looks like she’s just stretching her legs in a motion that resembles walking.

“Yeah…that’s called the stepping reflex….every single human being is born with it….” one woman named Angela wrote. The stepping reflex according to Stanford Children’s Health is, “also called the walking or dance reflex because a baby appears to take steps or dance when held upright with his or her feet touching a solid surface.” And that sounds about right to us after watching the video.
