Alton Brown Confirms ‘Good Eats’ Is Returning With a Snarky Dig at Guy Fieri

Tags:

In 2012, Food Network ended Alton Brown’s beloved show Good Eats, but after a five-year hiatus, our favorite food scientist is ready to return to the small screen. He’s been dropping hints for almost a year about his big comeback, but it was only recently that Brown revealed all the juicy details about his upcoming show.

At Dragon Con, a convention in Atlanta, Brown said during a panel that his new program, called Return of the Eats, would be another half-hour show on Food Network. Obviously excited to break the good news, Brown exclaimed to those gathered: “We’re bringing it back, we’re restarting it, we’re getting the band back together!”

Over cheers from the crowd, everyone’s favorite bespectacled food show host joked that there was one issue still left to be resolved: fitting Return of the Eats into Food Network’s already packed programming.

“The only problem that we still have to work out is that, well, essentially, in order to make room for the show on Food Network, they’re gonna have to cut Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives down to seven-and-a-half hours per day. I know, I know. Eight hours is the standard, but if they could just make do with seven-and-a-half…”

Too funny! And as much as we enjoy watching Guy Fieri’s over-the-top personality, there are only so many times we can go to “Flavortown” without getting sick of seeing that head of frosted blonde hair.

According to Brown, bonus footage for each show will also be available for those who watch the show online. “So if you watch it online, you will see a better show,” he said. He remained mum on an actual air date, but Delish speculates that it will be ready for our viewing pleasures in 2018.

Who else is ready for new content on Food Network? Return of the Eats will be a nice break from the cooking competitions and DDD reruns!
