Yet another beloved celebrity has passed away in 2016. Actress Carrie Fisher, best known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars films, sadly died at age 60 after suffering a heart attack on Friday, Dec. 23.
Her only child, daughter Billie Lourd, confirmed the news in a statement released on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning," wrote Simon Halls, the family spokesperson, according to People. "She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly."

Last week, Carrie--the daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and late singer Eddie Fisher--suffered cardiac arrest during a flight from London to L.A. She was rushed from the flight to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where she died four days later.
